Reflecting on May.
Life in the studio and beyond - what the last month looked like for me.
Projects that saw the light of day:
Singer songwriter Jolene Marie’s album, Sun Creek was released! 🎵
Jolene and I spent time exploring folk aesthetic circa the 1960s. She had a clear idea of how she wanted the album cover to look, and we knew we were concentrating on creating a hand-lettered title to complement a meaningful photo that she had snapped.
Researching folk-influenced typography and art nouveau letterforms, I had a great time during my quest down the rabbit hole. While this nature-based style looks loose and freeflowing, personally I find art nouveau elements to be very difficult to emulate.
I created a whole vinyl album jacket + a double-sided lyrical insert. The whole package looks so great and I’m so excited to see this vinyl in-person!
Listening to Jolene’s music, you’ll be able to appreciate the audio-visual connection of this project. Have a listen to the new album (produced, recorded and mixed by my very talented collaborator in creativity, Brock Geiger fyi) here!
The first outdoor mural signage of the season:
Ramsay welcomed new neighbours - Thermae Eleven, the city’s first outdoor spa, conveniently located next to my studio space at NVRLND. I was brought onto this project by studio peer Cassie Suche, who will be completing a mural to incorporate the wordmark signage on the building.
Moving with the momentum of the recent launch of Feeling Fine Signs, I’m booking painting projects for the summer!🌞 Book your project here.
🎉 Big News:
My partner and I feel incredibly excited and so grateful to have purchased our first home last month! 🏠 We’ve spent the past many weeks (it feels like forever) absorbed in the admin of purchasing, moving and now RENOS for the biggest art project of my life. 🎨
I’ve been spending my time and all resources creating moodboards, mock-ups and a cohesive plan to develop the home, with paint being the most cost-efficient and also most impactful design resource I have at my disposal. The kitchen features three tones of green and I’m on a first-name basis at the local Benjamin Moore. Stand by for updates - relayed from our home and ongoing construction site.🚧
I’m bracing for a summer full of painting in all capacities - juggling renos and entrepreneurship. Feeling the overwhelm, but incredibly thankful at the same time.
Thanks for reading and spending a minute with me and my work.
Until next month,
Jen ➰

So excited to check out the new digs you two! Loving the Thermae lettering so far. Much love!
Good work Jen! It sounds like you are going to be a pretty busy gal this summer. It will all be worth it when winter sets in. The album looks really good, you got the vibe just right. Looking forward to more pictures…of everything! Char
